Cine Sparks
15 - 20 October 2012
State Library of Queensland & The Edge
Screen Queensland is delighted to welcome you to Cine Sparks - a program of vibrant, intelligent cinema for a younger audience. Now in its eighth year, Cine Sparks is unique on the Australian film circuit as an event totally dedicated to the education of school students, complete with study guides for selected titles.
This year's Cine Sparks program will take viewers on a tour of nations, cultures, themes and ideas. It has been curated in the hope that many of these films will provide stimulation for classroom discussion. We also want to impress upon teachers and students alike the value of learning another language at a time when there is an alarming decline in the study of foreign languages in Australian schools. To this end the 2012 program includes films from Germany, Sweden, France, Ireland, New Zealand, Indonesia, India and Afghanistan, and audiences will enjoy the sounds of Russian, Hebrew, Arabic, Hindi, Afghan Persian, English, German, French, and the Swedish language in action.
This year Cine Sparks is delighted to be partnering with The Edge and The State Library of Queensland.
