A devout palliative care nurse with a dubious past is appointed to care for an ailing dancer and takes it upon herself to save the soul of her charge.
Nurse Maud (Morfydd Clark) ascends a craggy outlook above seaside Scarborough to tend to terminally ill Amanda (Jennifer Ehle). Harangued by guilt over an incident with a past patient, Maud urges Amanda to embrace Christ as she approaches the end of her life. When Amanda’s natural hedonism wins over, Maud questions her own beliefs and resorts to more extreme measures, slipping back into old, destructive behaviour. Rose Glass’s debut feature is a harrowing walk along the tightrope between faith and delusion, right up to its devastating climax.
