The Green FogFeatures
Director and artist Guy Maddin, along with filmmakers Galen and Evan Johnson, crafts a masterful homage to Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo 1958, full of suspicious looks and haunting cityscapes.
This irreverent film uses a dizzying number of clips to carefully pay its respects to one of Hitchcock’s great works while simultaneously crafting a loving ode to the city of San Francisco. The Green Fog is an assemblage of footage shot in the Bay Area, comprising of Hollywood classics, experimental films, and TV shows. With surprisingly little dialogue, directors Maddin, Johnson and Johnson elegantly weave these scenes together to build the suspense that Hitchcock was so renowned for.
