That’s a Wrap!
Across 11 days, BIFF 2020 celebrated contemporary international and Australian film culture with a season of unmissable cinema.
We’ve showcased compelling debut features, dazzling cinematic triumphs and powerful life-affirming docos, alongside captivating conversations with filmmakers and celebrations of diversity and discovery across the film sector.
A taste of the 2020 highlights include our opening night and Australian premiere of High Ground 2020, directed by Stephen Maxwell Johnson and inspired by Australia’s untold history; official Cannes Film Festival selection The Truffle Hunters 2020, an adventure through the woods of Northern Italy accompanied by a delectable two-course truffle-infused menu; and the world premiere of Firestarter: The Story of Bangarra 2020 which gave audiences an insight into the world-renowned Bangarra Dance Theatre and its dynamic artistic director Stephen Page.
We’ve celebrated our BIFF 2020 Patrons, screening nine films from the brilliant careers of Academy Award-nominated film editor Jill Bilcock, and multi-award-winning Australian actor Jack Thompson.
Thank you for supporting another year of BIFF!
“From the opening night screening of High Ground to the final film, Firestarter, the energy and commitment of Brisbane film-lovers propelled BIFF 2020 to a scale that seemed impossible under current circumstances.
Together we’ve been inspired and uplifted by incredible cinema from all corners of the globe, with more than 200 film screenings across Brisbane. My immense thanks you, our audience, and our wonderful family of supporters and partners.
Thank you for making BIFF 2020 such a hit!”
