Hugo Weaving once again surprises us with his versatile acting in The Rooster, an intriguing film centred around the unlikely bond between a small-town cop (Phoenix Raei) and an erratic hermit (Hugo Weaving) who meet after the harrowing death of a town local.
When his childhood friend commits suicide, local cop Dan attempts to gain information from the last person to see him alive, a hermit who hates cops. Through late-night walkie-talkie conversations, alcohol-induced activities and exploring the woods, the pair unexpectedly bond – their outlooks on life both changing for the better.
Audience discretion is advised: themes of suicide.
