A moving, beautiful and semi-autobiographical drama set in 1990’s Canada. Riceboy Sleeps has been a festival and critic favourite and won numerous international awards.

Based on director Anthony Shim’s real-life experience, Riceboy Sleeps begins with a single immigrant mother moving to Canada, adjusting to a new life and starting her young son at school. As mother and son navigate the complexities of life in a different country, new customs and challenges are encountered until a chance to visit their Korean past and heritage is unexpectedly presented. Riceboy Sleeps is an intimate and impressive film portraying a mother’s love and a family bond.
